21K Digital Media Social Enterprise is a newly formed non-profit Limited by Guarantee company with a social mission to provide education and employment opportunities for underprivileged young people in London.

The UK tech industry is big news with around 775,000 people being employed every year. Shockingly, only 4% of these employees are from the BAME sector; an underrepresentation which needs to be urgently addressed.

Around 90% of all jobs over the next 20 years will require some level of digital skills. It is therefore essential that digital natives, who are from a diverse background, are given the opportunity to equip themselves with most digital and soft skills, essential to gain employment in the digital media and tech industry.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has highlighted the fact that young black men face some of the highest unemployment rates in London – a staggering 33% according to recent figures by the UK’s leading independent race equality think tank.  21K Digital Media will be launching its innovative Digital Bootcamp to help reboot these shocking statistics.

The aims of 21K Digital Media are:

1. Increase Access to Digital Media and Technology Apprenticeships for BAME young people who are under-represented in the media and technology industries.

2. Deliver high-quality digital and IT training, which is cost-effective and produces results for our clients, and

3. Develop a collaborative approach with digital media and technology apprenticeship employers, to encourage them to recruit from a pool of talented individuals from a diverse background.

21K Digital Media intends to arm digital natives  with the necessary skills to increase productivity for businesses and help them continue or begin to make profits in the changing world.
